AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3914 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3914, AS AMENDED, 
3with reference to page and line numbers of Senate Amendment 
4No. 1, on page 1, line 5, after "24-6" by inserting "and by 
5adding Section 34-18.78"; and
 
6on page 4, immediately below line 15, by inserting the 
7following:

 
8    "(105 ILCS 5/34-18.78 new)
9    Sec. 34-18.78. Sick leave; mental or behavioral health 
10complications.  In addition to any interpretation or definition 
11included in a collective bargaining agreement or board of 
12education or district policy, sick leave, or its equivalent, 
13to which a teacher or other eligible employee is entitled 
14shall be interpreted to include mental or behavioral health 
15complications.  Unless contrary to a collective bargaining 
16agreement or board of education or district policy, the board

1may require a certificate from a mental health professional 
2licensed in Illinois providing ongoing care or treatment to 
3the teacher or employee as a basis for pay during leave after 
4an absence of 3 days for mental or behavioral health 
5complications.".
