AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3972 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3972 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The School Code is amended  by adding Section 
52-3.195 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/2-3.195 new)
7    Sec. 2-3.195. Direct support professional training 
8program. Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year and 
9continuing for not less than 2 years, the State Board of 
10Education shall make available a model program of study that 
11incorporates the training and experience necessary to serve as 
12a direct support professional.  By July 1, 2023, the State 
13Board shall submit recommendations developed in consultation 
14with stakeholders, including, but not limited to, 
15organizations representing community-based providers serving 
16children and adults with intellectual or developmental

1disabilities, and education practitioners, including, but not 
2limited to, teachers, administrators, special education 
3directors, and regional superintendents of schools, to the 
4Department of Human Services for the training that would be 
5required in order to be complete the model program of study.".
