SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

 

Appropriates $125,000,000 from the Fund the Police Grant Fund to the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board for grants to units of local government for all expenses related to the administration of the statutory provisions of the Fund the Police Act.  Effective July 1, 2022.

    AN ACT concerning appropriations.

 

        Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

 

    Section 5. The sum of $125,000,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated from the Fund the Police Grant Fund to the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board for grants to units of local government for all expenses related to the administration of the statutory provisions of the Fund the Police Act, in the approximate amounts below:

 

  For body camera mandates, including but not

  limited to the purchase, storage, and

  other necessary expenses associated with

  running local body camera programs, and

  for the purchase of other law enforcement

  equipment.................................... $42,000,000

 

  For additional law enforcement training

  mandated by State law......................... 15,000,000

 

  For Mobile Team In-Service Training Units

  throughout the State........................... 5,000,000

 

  For hiring, rehiring, and retention of law

  enforcement officers, including hiring and

  retention incentives and overtime............. 37,000,000

 

  To assist with outreach and community

  policing activities............................ 5,000,000

 

  To assist with mental health treatment

  for individuals in county jails............... 21,000,000

 

    Total..................................... $125,000,000

 

 

 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2022.
