| 1 | | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The State Board of Education has filed its Report
|
| 3 | | on Waivers of School Code Mandates, dated January 28, 2022,
|
| 4 | | with the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the
|
| 5 | | Secretary of State of Illinois as required by Section 2-3.25g
|
| 6 | | of the School Code; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The General Assembly finds that these requests |
| 8 | | have
not been conducted with the most appropriate procedure |
| 9 | | for
district-wide financial changes that have far reaching |
| 10 | | impacts on
local communities; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, The General Assembly finds that school finance |
| 12 | | changes
should be handled in a consistent manner in |
| 13 | | consultation with ISBE, which
shall provide recommendations on |
| 14 | | the best procedure to ensure changes
to these requirements in |
| 15 | | the future are given the necessary scrutiny to
ensure the best |
| 16 | | outcomes for school districts and communities; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The General Assembly will assess this issue |
| 18 | | thoroughly
and address the underlying issues to ensure
that |
| 19 | | the waiver process is used for its intended purpose; |
| 20 | | therefore, be it
|
| 21 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
