| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Edward "Ed" P. Short of Moline, who |
| 4 | | passed away on January 5, 2021; and

| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ed Short was born to Thomas and Mary (Maruna) |
| 6 | | Short in Ryan, Iowa on October 8, 1933, the eleventh of twelve |
| 7 | | children; he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran; he married Janne |
| 8 | | E. DeBoo at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Moline |
| 9 | | on July 31, 1965; he received his bachelor's degree from St. |
| 10 | | Ambrose University and his master's degree from Western |
| 11 | | Illinois University; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Ed Short worked as a teacher for the Rock Island |
| 13 | | School District; he retired in 1994 after 25 years of service; |
| 14 | | and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Ed Short was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical |
| 16 | | Lutheran Church in Moline; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Ed Short was an avid golfer, reader, and master |
| 18 | | gardener; he loved spending time with his family, especially |
| 19 | | reading poetry with his granddaughter; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Ed Short is survived by his wife; his daughter, |
