| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Edward R. "Ed" Elliott of Rock Island, |
| 4 | | who passed away on January 2, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ed Elliott was born in Allens Grove Township, |
| 6 | | Iowa to Nellie and William Elliott on May 22, 1924; he |
| 7 | | graduated from Rock Island Senior High School and served in |
| 8 | | the U.S. Army during World War II; he achieved the rank of |
| 9 | | sergeant and took part in the Battle of the Bulge; he received |
| 10 | | three Overseas Service Bars, the American Campaign Medal, the |
| 11 | | European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with four |
| 12 | | Bronze Battle Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished |
| 13 | | Unit Badge, and a World War II Victory Medal; he also received |
| 14 | | a letter of thanks from President Harry S. Truman; he married |
| 15 | | Eileen Wagner on October 2, 1948; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Ed Elliott was a mail carrier in Rock Island for |
| 17 | | many years; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Ed Elliott was a member of the Fifteenth Avenue |
| 19 | | Christian Church in Rock Island and an avid fan of the Chicago |
| 20 | | Cubs; he enjoyed listening to baseball and football games and |
| 21 | | audio books; he and his wife enjoyed their weekends together |
