| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of William D. "Bill" Hynd of Rock Island, |
| 4 | | who passed away on December 25, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Hynd was born in Moline to William Jr. and |
| 6 | | Marguerite (Peterson) Hynd on September 10, 1933; he graduated |
| 7 | | from United Township High School in 1951 and completed his |
| 8 | | toolmaker apprenticeship at Reynolds Engineering in Rock |
| 9 | | Island in 1955; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Bill Hynd joined the U.S. Navy and served on the |
| 11 | | destroyer-tender USS Frontier in the Pacific; he completed |
| 12 | | active duty in 1957 and married Mary Ellen Blondeel in |
| 13 | | Sheffield on August 2, 1958; he served in the U.S. Navy Reserve |
| 14 | | until 1962; upon his release from active duty, he rejoined |
| 15 | | Reynolds Engineering as a toolmaker until his retirement in |
| 16 | | 1998; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Bill Hynd enjoyed riding his bicycle along the |
| 18 | | river, recycling for the residents of Summit Ridge, and |
| 19 | | watching his only local grandson, Alex, play sports; he was |
| 20 | | especially pleased to attend the graduation of his godson |
| 21 | | Nathan Moss from Marine Boot Camp at Parris Island, South |
| 22 | | Carolina and was proud that Nathan later served as a Navy |
