2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of CW3 Dallas G. Garza, who passed away |
4 | | November 12, 2020; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Garza was born in Fort Leonard Wood, |
6 | | Missouri to David and Belinda on September 19, 1986 and grew up |
7 | | in Janesville, Wisconsin with his mother and two siblings; |
8 | | moving to Fayetteville, North Carolina to live with his father |
9 | | and his wife, David Garza Jr. and Maria De Jesus Garza, and two |
10 | | siblings, he attended and graduated from Seventy-First Senior |
11 | | High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 2005; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Garza followed in his father's footsteps |
13 | | and enlisted in the U.S. Army; his first duty station was in |
14 | | Fort Bragg as a helicopter crew chief, where he was able to |
15 | | complete his first airborne jump alongside his father during |
16 | | his father's last airborne jump in the Army; his 2nd |
17 | | assignment was in Hawaii at Wheeler and Schofield; he then |
18 | | began to pursue becoming a Black Hawk pilot and was assigned to |
19 | | Fort Rucker in 2010; when he graduated from Warrant Officer |
20 | | School, he was presented with numerous awards; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Garza's first duty station as a pilot was |
22 | | in Texas at Fort Hood, where he excelled and became a pilot in |

1 | | command and then an instructor; he returned to Hawaii, where |
2 | | he progressed further to a senior instructor pilot and |
3 | | instrument examiner; at the time of his death, he was serving |
4 | | as part of a multinational peacekeeping mission in Egypt; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Garza knew how to live life to the fullest |
6 | | as a father, son, brother, and friend; he would wear flamingos |
7 | | with pride, singing his heart out in karaoke, and dress up |
8 | | every chance he could, including dressing up as the hero |
9 | | Superman, which is how he will be remembered by many; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Garza was preceded in death by a few |
11 | | beloved family members and many of his fellow soldiers and |
12 | | aviators; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Garza is survived by his children, |
14 | | Viviana, Isabella, and Christopher Garza; his parents, David |
15 | | Garza Jr., Maria De Jesus Garza, and Belinda Swinney; his |
16 | | brothers, David D. Garza and Tommy Long; his sisters, Jesica |
17 | | Garza, Aurora Long, and Sylvia Long; and his fellow brother |
18 | | and sister soldiers and aviators; therefore, be it

19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
21 | | CW3 Dallas G. Garza and extend our sincere condolences to his |
22 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
