SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald "Don" Lee Jacobs of East Moline, who passed away February 21, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Don Jacobs was born to Oral "Jake" and Caroline "Ma Jake" Jacobs in Moline on October 9, 1931; he graduated from United Township High School; he served as a staff sergeant in Germany during the Korean War; he married Wanda Smith in Moline on May 19, 1951; and

WHEREAS, Don Jacobs was part owner of J&J Music Co. in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Don Jacobs had a long political career; he served as a precinct committeeman, an East Moline alderman, a Rock Island County auditor for 21 years, and a Rock Island County finance chairman; he retired from Rock Island County; and

WHEREAS, Don Jacobs was a member of East Moline American Legion Post 227 and VFW Post 2153; and

WHEREAS, Don Jacobs enjoyed growing roses; he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Don Jacobs was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Josh Jacobs; and

WHEREAS, Don Jacobs is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Wanda; his children, Diana (David) Kelley, Lonnie (Barb) Jacobs, Tamara (Dick) Rogenski, and Lorna (Joe) Moreno; his grandchildren, Shane, Shawna, Jason, Jared, Lindsey, Tara, Keri, Kylie, Anthony, Zachary, Michael, Stefnie, and Ryan; his 22 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Gloria Goebel and Denny (Mary Ellen) Jacobs; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald "Don" Lee Jacobs and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Don Jacobs as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
