| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Donald "Don" Lee Jacobs of East |
| 4 | | Moline, who passed away February 21, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Don Jacobs was born to Oral "Jake" and Caroline |
| 6 | | "Ma Jake" Jacobs in Moline on October 9, 1931; he graduated |
| 7 | | from United Township High School; he served as a staff |
| 8 | | sergeant in Germany during the Korean War; he married Wanda |
| 9 | | Smith in Moline on May 19, 1951; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Don Jacobs was part owner of J&J Music Co. in |
| 11 | | Moline; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Don Jacobs had a long political career; he served |
| 13 | | as a precinct committeeman, an East Moline alderman, a Rock |
| 14 | | Island County auditor for 21 years, and a Rock Island County |
| 15 | | finance chairman; he retired from Rock Island County; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Don Jacobs was a member of East Moline American |
| 17 | | Legion Post 227 and VFW Post 2153; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Don Jacobs enjoyed growing roses; he loved |
| 19 | | spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren |
| 20 | | and great-grandchildren; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Don Jacobs was preceded in death by his parents |
| 2 | | and his grandson, Josh Jacobs; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Don Jacobs is survived by his wife of nearly 70 |
| 4 | | years, Wanda; his children, Diana (David) Kelley, Lonnie |
| 5 | | (Barb) Jacobs, Tamara (Dick) Rogenski, and Lorna (Joe) Moreno; |
| 6 | | his grandchildren, Shane, Shawna, Jason, Jared, Lindsey, Tara, |
| 7 | | Keri, Kylie, Anthony, Zachary, Michael, Stefnie, and Ryan; his |
| 8 | | 22 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Gloria Goebel and Denny |
| 9 | | (Mary Ellen) Jacobs; and his many nieces and nephews; |
| 10 | | therefore, be it
|
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
| 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 13 | | Donald "Don" Lee Jacobs and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 14 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 15 | | further
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 17 | | presented to the family of Don Jacobs as an expression of our |
| 18 | | deepest sympathy.
