SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marian Constance Tetzlaff, who passed
4away on July 29, 2019 at the age of 90; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff was born Marian Constance
6DiGregorio in Chicago on March 7, 1929; she lived in the Oak
7Park-River Forest area for the majority of her life and spent
8her last years of her life in Solana Beach, California; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff was a member of Calvary Memorial
10Church in Oak Park for many years and also attended First
11Presbyterian Church in River Forest; she lived her faith fully
12by imparting her values of kindness, generosity, and
13thoughtfulness to her family; she always started and ended her
14day with devotion and prayer; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff raised five children while
16working full time; she worked in the City of Chicago for a
17large law firm as a lead legal assistant, while remaining
18extremely organized and efficient in running the family
19household smoothly; she kept an impeccable home and
20entertained with grace; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff was a woman of many talents,

1including a passion for sewing, needlework, and knitting; her
2hand was fine, and she knitted with a group of skilled knitters
3until the end; she spent many years as a member of the 19th
4Century Club in Oak Park, knitting for babies; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff had a beautiful voice and sang in
6choirs large and small; one felt blessed to sit next to her in
7church to hear her sing one of her favorite hymns "Holy, Holy,
8Holy"; she loved opera and classical music and volunteered for
9the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff traveled throughout the world and
11especially loved the Smoky Mountains, where she enjoyed hiking
12to view the wildflowers; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff remained an active learner
14throughout her life; she embraced technology, had a weekly
15video conference with her children, and kept an active email
16correspondence with many; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff gathered a wide circle of friends
18and had an insightful sense of humor; she was very beautiful
19and had a countenance of optimism and grace that she
20maintained throughout her life; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff was preceded in death by her

1husband, George A. Tetzlaff, Jr.; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Marian Tetzlaff is survived by her children,
3Gregory (Donna) W. Tetzlaff, Dr. Linda (Warren) T. Brubaker,
4Laura (Robert) J. Godfrey, Lisa (Timothy) J. Pfiffner, and
5Thomas G. Tetzlaff; her grandchildren, Dr. Aleah L. Brubaker,
6Bradley K. Pfiffner, Rebecca E. Tetzlaff, Corey P. Pfiffner,
7Gregory W. Tetzlaff II, Anita Morea, Keene N. Brubaker, and
8Andrew T. Pfiffner; her great-grandchild, Matthew Warren
9Morea; and her brother, Frank DiGregorio; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Marian Constance Tetzlaff and extend our sincere condolences
13to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
14it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Marian Tetzlaff as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
