| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of William Eugene "Gus" Hopper of |
| 4 | | Gillespie, who passed away on March 10, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, William Hopper was born in Henderson to Vernie |
| 6 | | Hopper and Kathleen (McFarlan) Hopper on December 5, 1925; he |
| 7 | | served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; he married Ivonia |
| 8 | | (Rademacher) Hopper in Gillespie on January 23, 1946, and she |
| 9 | | preceded him in death on October 12, 2020; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, William Hopper was a retired coal miner and |
| 11 | | steelworker; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, William Hopper was a member of the United Steel |
| 13 | | Workers Union and the Gillespie Lions Club; he was an avid |
| 14 | | bowler and the secretary of the bowling league; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, William Hopper was preceded in death by his |
| 16 | | parents; his spouse; his son, William E. Hopper; his brothers, |
| 17 | | Jim Hopper and Richard Hopper; and his sisters, Lois Keck and |
| 18 | | Dorothy Bone; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, William Hopper is survived by his son, Wendell |
| 20 | | Hopper, and his grandchildren, Brennan Hopper and Jessica |
