SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of R. David Richards, who passed away on 
4November 28, 2020; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, David Richards was born to Guy B. and E. Virginia 
6(Scandrett) Richards in Alton on June 11, 1941;  he graduated 
7from Roxana High School in 1959 and from Ranken Technical 
8College in 1962; he married Judith A. Gaul in Staunton on June 
99, 1973; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, David Richards served his community for 59 years 
11at the Rosewood Heights Fire Department; throughout that time, 
12he held many positions, including captain and assistant chief; 
13he also served the Rosewood Heights Fire District as a trustee 
14for many years; he could always be found at the back of the 
15Engine House on Fish Fry Days, frying hundreds of pounds of 
16fish; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS,  David Richards enjoyed teaching his grandchildren 
18how to play UNO, taking train trips with his train club, and 
19ushering at his church; he will be missed by his family, fellow 
20firefighters, and the local community; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, David Richards is survived by his sons, Scott

1(Angy) Richards and Andrew (Vanessa) Richards; his 
2grandchildren, Kiley, Reagan, and Adam Richards; his 
3step-grandchildren, Natalie, Brayden, and Camden Hogle and 
4Logan, Hannah, and Chloe Overton; and his dear family friends, 
5Bill and Mary Birdsell; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
8R. David Richards and extend our sincere condolences to his 
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

12presented to the family of David Richards as an expression of

13our deepest sympathy.
