SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Peter R. Bergstrom of Monticello, who passed away on January 27, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Peter Bergstrom was born in Detroit, Michigan to Harold Arthur and Janet (Fitch) Bergstrom on September 23, 1959; he served as a helicopter pilot and warrant officer in the U.S. Army; he married Linda Aupperle in Mahomet on April 29, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Peter Bergstrom was the owner and chef of Bergie's Place in Monticello; before settling into his permanent spot on Charter Street, he retired from Horizon Hobby then undertook a mentoring project with youth at Crossroads that led to the formation of his boat making business, G2g Wood and Boatworks; while working in his shop, he was catering events and serving at popup locations; he was the epitome of an entrepreneur; and

WHEREAS, Peter Bergstrom served as a board member of the Monticello Chamber of Commerce and the Monticello Main Street; he was also active in the Monticello Business Bootcamp program, first as a participant in 2016 and later as a speaker; and

WHEREAS, Peter Bergstrom was a member of Crossroads Church of Monticello, where he was regularly active with the worship and tech teams and played bass with the praise team; he was a member of the Monticello Model Masters, and he enjoyed RC airplanes with a focus on pylon racing as both a pilot and a starter; and

WHEREAS, Peter Bergstrom was known for his entrepreneurial and generous spirit; he will be remembered for the positive impact he made on others; and

WHEREAS, Peter Bergstrom was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister; and

WHEREAS, Peter Bergstrom is survived by his wife, Linda Bergstrom; his brother, David Bergstrom (Lisa); his sister, Susan Chadwick (Graham); his stepmother, Michele Bergstrom; his stepbrother, Dr. Charlie Bergstrom (Krisjon); and his stepsister, Kimberly Stearns; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Peter R. Bergstrom and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Peter Bergstrom as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
