|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Charles "Chuck" E. Jones of Peoria, |
4 | | who passed away on March 16, 2021; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Jones was born to Homer and Minnie Jones on |
6 | | October 21, 1928; he grew up in Peoria Heights where he |
7 | | attended Kelly Avenue School and graduated from Woodruff High |
8 | | School in 1947; he enlisted in the Army in 1947 and served in |
9 | | the Korean War; he married Norma Theobald in East Peoria on |
10 | | November 18, 1956; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Jones worked for the Peoria Journal Star |
12 | | before going to work at Multi-Ad, retiring after 25 years; he |
13 | | often worked multiple jobs, including as an ironworker, a |
14 | | millwright, and a volunteer firefighter in Richwoods Township; |
15 | | and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Jones was active at the American Legion |
17 | | Post 2 and served as a member of the Honor Guard; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Jones was a loving man who was passionate |
19 | | about family and living life to its fullest; he was quick to |
20 | | make friends with anyone who crossed his path; he spent years |
21 | | at his home on the east bluff repairing bicycles, patching |

1 | | tires, or just putting air in the bike tires for all the |
2 | | neighborhood kids who called him Mr. Chuck; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Jones was preceded in death by his parents; |
4 | | his brother; and eight sisters; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Jones is survived by his wife of 64 years, |
6 | | Norma; his daughters, Kathy (Brad) Dressel, Karen (Don) |
7 | | O'Brien, and Kelli (KC) Coleman-Jones; his grandchildren, |
8 | | Joshua Dressel, Dylan Dressel, Megan Edwards, Jeni Simkins, |
9 | | Jeremy O'Brien, and Weston Holt; his great-grandchildren, Brea |
10 | | Simkins, Kealy Simkins, and Wayne O'Brien; and his sister, |
11 | | Angie (Alfred) Firmand; therefore, be it
|
12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
14 | | Charles "Chuck" E. Jones and extend our sincere condolences to |
15 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
16 | | further

17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
18 | | presented to the family of Chuck Jones as an expression of our |
19 | | deepest sympathy.
