SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Wesley "Charlie" Armstrong of Moline, who passed away on April 10, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Armstrong was born in Joy to Herbert and Helen (Schaub) Armstrong on December 2, 1938; he was stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Minot, North Dakota and married Lucy Froehlich in Dickinson, North Dakota on January 19, 1960; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Armstrong retired from ALCOA in 2001 after 40 years of working as a pipe fitter and mill mechanic; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Armstrong was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking and fishing; he was a black belt in karate and put his initials on everything he owned; he loved cologne, keeping his lawn groomed and cars polished, and performing magic tricks for his family and friends; he was a member of the Moline Viking Club and the Rock Island York Rite Masonic Lodge; his family was his pride and joy, and he especially enjoyed being the grandfather and great-grandfather of many beautiful children; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Armstrong was the dear husband of 61 years of Lucy; the loving father of Scott Armstrong, Jill Armstrong, and Jenny Butrym and their spouses; he was the caring grandfather of one grandson and seven granddaughters and was blessed with 16 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; he was also a caring brother of Marilyn Mix and Russell Armstrong; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles Wesley "Charlie" Armstrong and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charlie Armstrong as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
