SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Daniel "Dan" W. Cadigan of Springfield, who passed away on April 16, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was born to Joseph and Eva Kress Cadigan in Springfield on October 31, 1939; he graduated from Cathedral Boys High School in 1957; he attended Springfield Junior College and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with his Bachelor of Science in Accounting; he married Mary Margaret "Peggy" Weber on October 18, 1969; and

WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan joined the firm Kerber, Eck & Braeckel LLP in 1961 where he was a managing partner; he worked at KEB for 43 years, enjoyed his colleagues, and was a leader, mentor, and role model to many; and

WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan's volunteer efforts spanned more than 50 years and included youth, business, and governmental organizations; he held many leadership positions and served on the boards for many community organizations, such as the American Business Club, the Illinois CPA Society, the American Institute of CPAs, the Association of Government Accountants, the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Leadership Springfield, the Chaine de Rotisseurs, and the Marine Bank Board; he served on the County Board, was a United Way Chairman, and taught accounting at Springfield College in Illinois; he loved volunteering at various local schools and taught current events at Blessed Sacrament School and, in recent years, at Graham Elementary School; he was on many fundraising committees at Sacred Heart-Griffin over the years; and

WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was a member of the Sangamo Club and the Island Bay Yacht Club; and

WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was the "Irishman of the Year" in 1986 and was the 52nd Recipient of the Copley First Citizen Award in 2014; he was the first member of the Sacred Heart-Griffin Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was an avid history buff, a Los Angeles Dodgers fan, and a University of Illinois fan; he generously gave to the "I Fund" and loved Illinois and Sacred Heart-Griffin sports; he had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes; and

WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Patrick Cadigan; and

WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan is survived by his wife, Peggy Cadigan; his daughter, Shannon White; his grandchildren, Blake and Benjamin White; his sister, Susan A. Cadigan; his sisters-in-law, Patty Cadigan and Patty (Scott) Shapiro; his brother-in-law, Mike Weber; his one niece; and his six nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Daniel "Dan" W. Cadigan and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dan Cadigan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
