| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Barbara Mary Witczak Hartnett, Ed.D., |
| 4 | | of Lawrence, Kansas, who passed away on April 27, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Barbara Hartnett was born to Matthew and Mary |
| 6 | | Witczak in Cicero on December 5, 1946; she graduated from St. |
| 7 | | Mary of Czestochowa Grade School and then Nazareth Academy; |
| 8 | | she met her future husband, Mike Hartnett, in high school, and |
| 9 | | the two married in 1968; she earned a bachelor's degree from |
| 10 | | the University of Illinois, a master's degree from Illinois |
| 11 | | State University, and a doctorate from Northern Illinois |
| 12 | | University; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Barbara Hartnett taught psychology for many |
| 14 | | years at Illinois Central College in East Peoria, eventually |
| 15 | | rising to the rank of full professor; she later took early |
| 16 | | retirement and became executive director of the Friendship |
| 17 | | House of Christian Service, a social agency in Peoria; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Barbara Hartnett and her husband moved to |
| 19 | | Lawrence in 2013 where she served on the board of directors for |
| 20 | | 10,000 Villages and Altrusa; therefore, be it
