| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Abbie C. (Hoffman) Weisberg, who |
| 4 | | passed away on April 26, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Abbie Weisberg was born on March 10, 1964; she |
| 6 | | earned her master's degree in Not for Profit Management from |
| 7 | | the Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership in |
| 8 | | Chicago; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Abbie Weisberg was the retired CEO of Keshet, an |
| 10 | | organization that serves over 1,000 people with disabilities |
| 11 | | in the Chicago area while consulting with dozens of social |
| 12 | | service agencies around the country; she worked with Keshet |
| 13 | | for over 30 years and previously served the organization as a |
| 14 | | teacher, program director, and executive director; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Abbie Weisberg was the founder of I Belong, a |
| 16 | | nonprofit organization dedicated to employing people with |
| 17 | | intellectual/developmental disabilities (i/dd) while |
| 18 | | embracing the Jewish values of community, kindness, |
| 19 | | responsibility, respect, and tikkun olam (repairing the |
| 20 | | world); and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Abbie Weisberg was an internationally recognized |
