| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Raphael "Ralph" Diederich of Wonder |
| 4 | | Lake, who passed away on January 13, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich was born on April 4, 1947; he |
| 6 | | grew up in Chicago, where he attended Catholic school; he |
| 7 | | served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970, and he was |
| 8 | | stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam and became a trained mechanic |
| 9 | | during his service; he married Patricia on April 22, 1967, and |
| 10 | | they had four children; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich had a career as a mechanic and |
| 12 | | truck driver; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich was committed to community |
| 14 | | involvement, and he was a retired Wonder Lake volunteer |
| 15 | | firefighter, EMT, and a search and rescue scuba diver; he was |
| 16 | | also a past trustee; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich volunteered for many military |
| 18 | | organizations in order to support veterans in any way he |
| 19 | | could; he was a past commander of the VFW; he was also a member |
| 20 | | of the American Legion, the Military Order of the Cootie, and |
| 21 | | the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree; he was also a board member |

| 1 | | of the VAC and involved in PLAV, Vietnow, Vrein, and AMVETS; |
| 2 | | and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich enjoyed spending time with his |
| 4 | | family, and they spent many summers in Wisconsin Dells, |
| 5 | | Wisconsin; he enjoyed coaching youth baseball, boating, |
| 6 | | camping, flying, and watching NASCAR and football; he was |
| 7 | | known for his amazing, funny, and heartfelt stories and for |
| 8 | | being a dreamer who never gave up on his dreams and encouraged |
| 9 | | everyone around him to dream big; he will be missed by all; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich was preceded in death by his |
| 11 | | parents, Jerry and Bernice Diederich, and his brother-in-law, |
| 12 | | Marty Koelper; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Diederich is survived by his wife of almost |
| 14 | | 54 years, Patricia (Triggs); his son, John (Lynda) Diederich; |
| 15 | | his daughter, Nancy; his son, Brian; his daughter, Dana; his |
| 16 | | sister, Cathy (Tom) Engleman; his brother, Mike (Margaret) |
| 17 | | Oester; his sister-in-law, Kathleen (Jim) Pieroni; and his |
| 18 | | sister-in-law, Mary Beth Koelper; therefore, be it
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
| 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 21 | | Raphael "Ralph" Diederich and extend our sincere condolences |
| 22 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
