| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of James Ray "Jim" Fidlar of Cordova, who |
| 4 | | passed away on June 6, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Fidlar was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Edwin |
| 6 | | and Violet (Slater) Fidlar on August 4, 1945; he served in the |
| 7 | | U.S. Marine Corps and saw combat during the Vietnam War; he |
| 8 | | then continued his military career as a prison guard at Camp |
| 9 | | Lejeune Military Base in Jacksonville, North Carolina; he |
| 10 | | married Lynn Smalley in Cordova on August 18, 1996; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Jim Fidlar worked as an insurance agent and |
| 12 | | financial advisor for Prudential in Moline for approximately |
| 13 | | 10 years; he then worked as a radiation technician for the |
| 14 | | Exelon Nuclear Power Plant, retiring in 2005; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Jim Fidlar was a member of Doric Masonic Lodge |
| 16 | | 319 in Moline, Cordova American Legion Post #1033, the Vietnam |
| 17 | | Veterans of America, and the Disabled Veterans of America; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jim Fidlar was known for being a proud Papa who |
| 19 | | loved following his grandkids and cheering them on during |
| 20 | | their sporting events; he enjoyed fishing and traveling to |
| 21 | | many parts of the country; he was proud of organizing the |
