| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Robert Lee Burns of Chatham, who |
| 4 | | passed away on June 12, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Burns was born in Springfield to Harry and |
| 6 | | Roberta (Hawkins) Burns on September 26, 1954; he graduated |
| 7 | | from Southeast High School in 1972 and received his bachelor's |
| 8 | | degree in Communications and Journalism from Southern Illinois |
| 9 | | University Carbondale in 1977; he married Marsha Henderson on |
| 10 | | December 31, 1996; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Robert Burns had a lengthy career as a |
| 12 | | sportswriter for The State-Journal Register; he was one of the |
| 13 | | voices behind WFMB-AM's Sportswriters on the Radio, the head |
| 14 | | of public relations for the Peoria Suns Baseball Club, and the |
| 15 | | news and sports anchor for WMBD AM-TV; in his later years, he |
| 16 | | was a bookseller at Barnes & Noble; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Robert Burns will be remembered as a source of |
| 18 | | light for all who came across his path; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Robert Burns was preceded in death by his |
| 20 | | parents; his son, Marcus Anthony Henderson; his brothers, |
| 21 | | Harry, William, and Gerald; and his sister, Betty Jean; and
