| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Robert J. Towler of Rock Island, who |
| 4 | | passed away on July 16, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Towler was born on December 26, 1933 and |
| 6 | | attended elementary and high school in Redwood Falls, |
| 7 | | Minnesota; he served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the |
| 8 | | Korean War and graduated from the University of Minnesota with |
| 9 | | a degree in forestry; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Robert Towler's work history includes the U.S. |
| 11 | | Forest Service in the Black Hills, the Lake County Forest |
| 12 | | Preserve, the Des Plaines Park District, and the City of Rock |
| 13 | | Island as Chief Horticulturist; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Robert Towler was a member of the Rock Island |
| 15 | | Horticulture Club and the Quad Cities Woodturners Club and a |
| 16 | | founding member of the Quad City Botanical Center; he was an |
| 17 | | avid volunteer for both Living Lands and Waters and Keep Rock |
| 18 | | Island Beautiful; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Robert Towler is survived by his wife, Dorothy, |
| 20 | | and his children, Kathleen, Kent, Kerm, and Kurt; therefore, |
| 21 | | be it
