6 | | 1946; she was raised in Evanston; and

7 | | WHEREAS, In the 1970s, Nanci Steele began working in the |
8 | | retail wine industry at Sola's Wine & Spirits, named Chicago's |
9 | | Best Wine Store by the Chicago Tribune wine columnist Craig |
10 | | Goldwyn; she was the first woman in Chicago to be a wholesale |
11 | | wine industry sales representative and worked for Judge & |
12 | | Dolph; for a short period, she wrote the wine column for the |
13 | | Chicago Sun-Times after the passing of their regular columnist |
14 | | Arnold Landsman; and

15 | | WHEREAS, Nanci Steele was the first woman to win and a |
16 | | two-time winner of Geja's Annual International Professional |
17 | | Wine Tasting Contest from 1980 to 1981 before she retired from |
18 | | the event; she was a founding member of Chicago's Dames |
19 | | d'Escoffier, an organization of professional wine industry |
20 | | women dedicated to furthering wine and food appreciation; and
