SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Laura Ann (Flatt) Childs of East Alton, who passed away on July 10, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Laura Childs was born in Alton on May 24, 1969; she was the daughter of Paula O'Neal and Edward Flatt Jr.; the sister of Daniele (Pat) Frymire; the aunt of Spencer; the sister of Wyatt (companion, Mallorie Davidson) Flatt; and the aunt of Madyson Flatt; and

WHEREAS, Laura Childs attended Saint Kevin's School; she graduated from Roxana Community School in 1987; and

WHEREAS, Laura Childs was known for being kind and sweet and for loving with all her heart; she served as her maternal grandfather's caretaker for the last several years; she made many friends throughout her life, touched many lives, and will be missed; and

WHEREAS, Laura Childs was the wife of Duane Childs; the mother of Dennis Lee Childs; the mother of her bonus children, Dakota Childs and Deidre Childs; the grandmother of Dakota's children, Jax and Celia; the granddaughter of her maternal grandparents, Joe O'Neal and the late Betty O'Neal, and her paternal grandparents, the late Edward Flatt Sr. and the late Wanda Flatt Schenato; the niece of Robert and Debi Bushnell, Timothy O'Neal, Rhonda Plummer, and Mike Flatt; and the friend to many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Laura Ann (Flatt) Childs and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Laura Childs as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
