| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of James "Jim" Ribbeck of Rock Island, |
| 4 | | who passed away on July 28, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Ribbeck was born in Sumner, Iowa to Erwin and |
| 6 | | Laura (Niemann) Ribbeck on October 15, 1930; he married Joan |
| 7 | | Reuter in Sumner on August 30, 1953; he received his Bachelor |
| 8 | | of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa; he earned his |
| 9 | | Master of Arts and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa; he served |
| 10 | | in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Jim Ribbeck was the recipient of the Gabel |
| 12 | | Memorial Award for outstanding research completed in Aurora |
| 13 | | public schools in 1964; after working in the public school |
| 14 | | system in Aurora, he joined the faculty at Augustana College |
| 15 | | as Dean of Students; later in his career, he became the |
| 16 | | Personnel Director/Director of Business Affairs at Augustana |
| 17 | | College; he retired after 32 years of service in 1996; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jim Ribbeck served in various leadership |
| 19 | | positions, including with the Easter Seals Foundation |
| 20 | | (Children's Therapy Center), the Northern Illinois Synod of |
| 21 | | the ELCA, and Trinity Lutheran Church; he was deeply committed |
| 22 | | to his faith and devoted to his church family, and he was |
