| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Leon J. Corkery of Moline, who passed |
| 4 | | away on August 2, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Leon Corkery was born to Charles (J.C.) and |
| 6 | | Margaret (Staebell) Corkery in Fairbank, Iowa on August 5, |
| 7 | | 1923; he served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 with the |
| 8 | | 1636th Engineering Construction Battalion in France, Germany, |
| 9 | | the Philippines, and Japan; he married Ruth Dingman in Fort |
| 10 | | Madison, Iowa on September 25, 1949; he attended Iowa State |
| 11 | | University on the G.I. Bill and graduated as an agricultural |
| 12 | | engineer in 1950; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, After graduation, Leon Corkery joined John Deere |
| 14 | | Harvester Works in East Moline where he was employed as an |
| 15 | | engineer until his retirement in 1984; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Leon Corkery was preceded in death by wife; his |
| 17 | | son, David Corkery; and his nine brothers; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Leon Corkery is survived by his four sons; |
| 19 | | Patrick (Margaret) Corkery, John (Dara) Corkery, Joseph |
| 20 | | (Margaret Lukens) Corkery, and Daniel (Victoria "Tori") |
| 21 | | Corkery; his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Corkery; his six |
