| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Peter John Pasquel of Peoria, who |
| 4 | | passed away on July 30, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Peter Pasquel was born in Peoria on May 9, 1940 |
| 6 | | and adopted by Helene (Stenstrom) and George O. Pasquel; he |
| 7 | | attended the primary school at St. Thomas parish and the |
| 8 | | Spalding Academy; he received his Bachelor of Arts from |
| 9 | | Bradley University and served in the Illinois National Guard |
| 10 | | for six years, with active duty on the streets of Chicago |
| 11 | | during the tumultuous 1960s; he married Rose Marie Ramos on |
| 12 | | April 11, 1964; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Peter Pasquel worked at George O. Pasquel Co., a |
| 14 | | wholesale commercial food and equipment business, for |
| 15 | | approximately 60 years; he was an extraordinary salesman, and |
| 16 | | there was no customer, large or small, who did not get his full |
| 17 | | attention; his work was his joy, his love, and his hobby; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Peter Pasquel was a devoted community activist |
| 19 | | and served on several non-profit boards, including the OSF |
| 20 | | HealthCare Foundation and the Center for the Prevention of |
| 21 | | Abuse; he served on the commissions for several sheriffs and |
| 22 | | was honored to be inducted into the African American Hall of |
