SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Larry Joe Alexander of Jerseyville,
4who passed away on September 6, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Alexander was born to George and Bernice
6(Price) Alexander in Jerseyville on October 31, 1963; he
7graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1982; after
8graduation, he went to Worsham College of Mortuary Science and
9obtained his degree in funeral directing and embalming; he
10married the love of his life, Julie Ann Calvey, at the
11Presbyterian Church in Jerseyville on June 24, 1989; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1985, Larry Alexander started his career at
13Gubser Funeral Home; he became owner in 2000 and renamed it
14Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home; in 2020, the funeral home
15became the Alexander Funeral Home; and
 
16    WHEREAS, In 1992, Larry Alexander was elected Jersey
17County Coroner and continued to hold that political office
18until his death; this made him the longest running coroner in
19Jersey County history; throughout his political career, he was
20proud to be a consistent "Top Vote Getter" in Jersey County;

1    WHEREAS, Larry Alexander was a member of the 1st Assembly
2of God Church of Jerseyville, the Jersey County Republican
3Party, the Ainad Shriners, Full Moon Masonic Lodge #341, The
4Scottish Rite, The National Rifle Association, the Illinois
5Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors
6Association, the Gideons International, and the Illinois Odd
7Fellows; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Larry Alexander was preceded in death by his
9parents; his wife; his siblings, James, Gary, Ronald, and
10Carolyn Alexander; his father-in-law, Donald Calvey; and his
11mother-in-law, Dorothy Calvey; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Larry Alexander is survived by his daughters,
13Alyssa Breann Alexander and Kari Jo Alexander; his special
14niece whom he raised as a daughter, Kristie (Brad) Ross and
15their son, David Ross; his brother, Floyd (Diane) Alexander;
16and his many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore,
17be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Larry Joe Alexander and extend our sincere condolences to his
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
