2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Jacqueline Louise "Jacquie" Nichols | ||||||
4 | of New York City, formerly of Peoria, who passed away on | ||||||
5 | September 5, 2021; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Jacquie Nichols was born in Peoria on May 29, | ||||||
7 | 1942; she grew up in the Averyville neighborhood, attending | ||||||
8 | Kingman Grade School and Woodruff High School; she pursued a | ||||||
9 | double major and earned degrees in Art Education and Home | ||||||
10 | Economics from Western Illinois University; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Jacquie Nichols had a gift for music; she formed | ||||||
12 | a singing duo with her sister, Judy, as children, and they | ||||||
13 | performed together for many years, winning awards and trophies | ||||||
14 | along the way; they were part of the WMBD Juvenile Theatre | ||||||
15 | group, and they sang on the radio and on television; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Jacquie Nichols was an art teacher for several | ||||||
17 | years in Illinois; she then left teaching and moved to | ||||||
18 | Manhattan in New York City, where she completed nurses' | ||||||
19 | training at New York City Hospital; her nursing duties took | ||||||
20 | her everywhere from London to Egypt; she then made another | ||||||
21 | career change, opening the JB Plaza International Trading Co. | ||||||
22 | and the Skyview Deli with her business partner; her many |

1 | interests and innate curiosity led to her to selling and | ||||||
2 | managing real estate in Maine and New York before she retired | ||||||
3 | in May 2021; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Jacquie Nichols had an unquenchable thirst for | ||||||
5 | conversation and a fascination for all things mechanical; her | ||||||
6 | enthusiasm for books, magazines, cats, family, gadgets, and | ||||||
7 | New York City kept her busy and productive her entire life; she | ||||||
8 | will be remembered for her energy and her great generosity to | ||||||
9 | everyone she met; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Jacquie Nichols was preceded in death by her | ||||||
11 | parents, Merle and Laverna (Short Lotze) Nichols, and her | ||||||
12 | brother, Jerry E. Nichols; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Jacquie Nichols is survived by her sister, Judith | ||||||
14 | (Alan) Aaron; her sister-in-law, Barbara Nichols; several | ||||||
15 | nieces and a nephew; and her great-nieces and great-nephews; | ||||||
16 | therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | Jacqueline Louise "Jacquie" Nichols and extend our sincere | ||||||
20 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
21 | her; and be it further
