2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Wesley Arthur Wildman, who passed away |
4 | | on August 6, 2020; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was born to Arthur W. Wildman and |
6 | | Louise Rankin-Wildman in Chicago on May 22, 1931; he was |
7 | | raised on the South Side of the city; and |
8 | | WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman graduated from Calumet High |
9 | | School; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman completed his undergraduate and |
11 | | postgraduate studies at the University of Chicago; he obtained |
12 | | a bachelor's degree in 1951, a Juris Doctor in 1953, and a |
13 | | master's degree in 1955; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was a law practitioner and |
15 | | professor; his specialty was labor law, specifically |
16 | | management representation during contract negotiations and |
17 | | labor disputes; his clients included the Chicago Board of |
18 | | Education and the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools; |
19 | | and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was often cited in local news |

1 | | reports concerning strikes by employees at high-profile |
2 | | companies; the news outlets included the Chicago Tribune and |
3 | | Chicago Business among others; and |
4 | | WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman's legal career included a stint at |
5 | | the Franczek Law Firm; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was appointed by former Illinois |
7 | | Governor James Thompson as one of the three original members |
8 | | of the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman taught industrial relations for |
10 | | decades at the University of Chicago Graduate School of |
11 | | Business, now the Booth School of Business, and had a strong |
12 | | and lasting impact on many of his students, including Booth |
13 | | alumnus and now Senate President Don Harmon; after retirement, |
14 | | he continued teaching as an adjunct professor of Public Policy |
15 | | until 2014; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was preceded in death by his |
17 | | parents and his brother; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Wesley Wildman was |
19 | | survived by his wife, Andrea; his children, Kathleen (Nancy |
20 | | Katz), Christopher (Karen), Jeanne (Chris Felknor), Ellen |
21 | | (Mary English), Richard (partner Sara Truelsen), Anne, and |

3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
4 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
5 | | Wesley Arthur Wildman and extend our sincere condolences to |
6 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
7 | | further

8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
9 | | presented to the family of Wesley Wildman as an expression of |
10 | | our deepest sympathy.
