SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Wesley Arthur Wildman, who passed away on August 6, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was born to Arthur W. Wildman and Louise Rankin-Wildman in Chicago on May 22, 1931; he was raised on the South Side of the city; and

WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman graduated from Calumet High School; and

WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Chicago; he obtained a bachelor's degree in 1951, a Juris Doctor in 1953, and a master's degree in 1955; and

WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was a law practitioner and professor; his specialty was labor law, specifically management representation during contract negotiations and labor disputes; his clients included the Chicago Board of Education and the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools; and

WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was often cited in local news reports concerning strikes by employees at high-profile companies; the news outlets included the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Business among others; and

WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman's legal career included a stint at the Franczek Law Firm; and

WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was appointed by former Illinois Governor James Thompson as one of the three original members of the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board; and

WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman taught industrial relations for decades at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, now the Booth School of Business, and had a strong and lasting impact on many of his students, including Booth alumnus and now Senate President Don Harmon; after retirement, he continued teaching as an adjunct professor of Public Policy until 2014; and

WHEREAS, Wesley Wildman was preceded in death by his parents and his brother; and

WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Wesley Wildman was survived by his wife, Andrea; his children, Kathleen (Nancy Katz), Christopher (Karen), Jeanne (Chris Felknor), Ellen (Mary English), Richard (partner Sara Truelsen), Anne, and David (partner Laura Candre); and his grandchildren, Andrew and Jordan Felknor; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Wesley Arthur Wildman and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Wesley Wildman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
