| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of John M. "Doc" Barrington, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on September 13, 2021; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, John Barrington was raised by his Uncle Rockie, | ||||||
| 6 | and his late Aunt Fran; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, John Barrington was a member of U.S. Marine | ||||||
| 8 | Detachment 1395; he served as an FMF Corpsman for two combat | ||||||
| 9 | tours in Iraq; he provided first-line care to Marines during | ||||||
| 10 | the initial invasion of Baghdad; he was awarded the Navy and | ||||||
| 11 | Marine Corps achievement medal for valorous actions; later, he | ||||||
| 12 | served as platoon corpsman with 1st Battalion, 6th Marines in | ||||||
| 13 | Fallujah; he successfully completed over 100 foot patrols, | ||||||
| 14 | day/night combat missions, and detainee operations as the sole | ||||||
| 15 | medical provider; he also assisted in the training of Iraqi | ||||||
| 16 | soldiers and police; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, John Barrington was awarded numerous medals and | ||||||
| 18 | ribbons, including the Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy | ||||||
| 19 | Achievement Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Navy | ||||||
| 20 | Unit Commendation, the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, the | ||||||
| 21 | Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the | ||||||
| 22 | Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Sea | ||||||
| 2 | Service Deployment Ribbon, the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas | ||||||
| 3 | Service Ribbon, the Rifle Marksmanship Medal, and the Pistol | ||||||
| 4 | Marksmanship Medal; he was Fleet Marine Force Qualified; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, John Barrington was the Ela Township Assessor for | ||||||
| 6 | over 11 years and Past Commander of American Legion Post 964 in | ||||||
| 7 | Lake Zurich; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, John Barrington's legacy is a life of caring for | ||||||
| 9 | people, as evidenced by his actions and community service; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, John Barrington was the loving husband of Bonnie; | ||||||
| 11 | the father of Tommy, Nick, Emma, Anna, Olivia, and the late | ||||||
| 12 | Lea; the son of the late Karen Barrington; the brother of Lisa | ||||||
| 13 | and Carl; the uncle of many nieces and nephews; and the nephew | ||||||
| 14 | of Penny; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
| 16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 17 | John M. "Doc" Barrington and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 18 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 19 | further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to the family of John Barrington as an expression of | ||||||
