SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Bertis E. "Bert" Griffin of Bethalto,
4who passed away on October 11, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bert Griffin was born in Alton to Hershal B. and
6Rita L. (Beiermann) Griffin on August 16, 1945; he served in
7the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married Cindy L.
8(Kilmer) Rulo in Meadowbrook on June 15, 1996; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bert Griffin retired from the maintenance
10department of Lindenwood University in June of 2008; he then
11worked for the Bethalto school district driving a bus for 10
12years until 2018; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bert Griffin was a member of American Legion
14Bethalto Post 214; he enjoyed camping, working in his garage,
15and racing; he was a jack of all trades and a handy man and
16loved spending time with his family and friends, especially
17his grandchildren; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bert Griffin was preceded in death by his parents
19and his brother, Ronnie Griffin; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bert Griffin is survived by his wife, Cindy; his

1children, Bert Eugene Griffin Jr., Rob (Susan) Griffin, Jodie
2(Dan) Sparrow, John (Angie) Griffin, Jamey Griffin, Heather
3(Scott) Kruchowski, Tim (Katie) Griffin, Jason (Casey)
4Griffin, and Melissa Ramirez; his siblings, Debbie "Sis"
5Griffin, John (Mary) Griffin, Kathie (Mike) Brooks, and Melann
6(Chris) Ray; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and
7several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be
8it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Bertis E. "Bert" Griffin and extend our sincere condolences to
12his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Bert Griffin as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
