| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Larry Stelivan, who passed away on |
| 4 | | October 8, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Larry Stelivan was born in Little Rock, Arkansas |
| 6 | | to Joseph Sr. and Iceola Stelivan on June 27, 1950, the last of |
| 7 | | 16 children; he was baptized at an early age and faithfully |
| 8 | | attended church with his family as a child; he graduated from |
| 9 | | Wilbur D. Mills High School and served in the U.S. Air Force |
| 10 | | from 1973 to 1975, receiving an honorable discharge; he |
| 11 | | attended Arkansas College of Technology and was on the Dean's |
| 12 | | List in 1991; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Larry Stelivan served as an Illinois State |
| 14 | | Trooper in Cook County in 1976 and then served with the |
| 15 | | Springfield Police Department from 1978 to 2002; in |
| 16 | | retirement, he started serving as doorman for the Illinois |
| 17 | | State Senate in Springfield on November 28, 2007 and was |
| 18 | | serving in that capacity at the time of his passing; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Larry Stelivan was affectionately known as "Vito |
| 20 | | Goodbar" or "John Cook"; he enjoyed playing darts, bowling, |
| 21 | | telling jokes, and being with his family; he was president of |
| 22 | | the Dead Eye motorcycle club in Springfield and a computer |

| 1 | | tech; he loved to dance on occasion and enjoyed taking road |
| 2 | | trips in his RV Camper; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Larry Stelivan was preceded in death by his |
| 4 | | parents; his son, Larry Stelivan; and his siblings, Joseph, |
| 5 | | Isom, Etta Mae, Geneva, Versia, Inez, Arnetta, Tommy, Linda, |
| 6 | | Melvin, and Leo Stelivan; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Larry Stelivan is survived by his wife, Tyus |
| 8 | | Stelivan; his children, Tanya Townsell, Katheryn Hayes, Carmen |
| 9 | | Warner-Stelivan, Shawntelle Stelivan, Iceola Stelivan, Everett |
| 10 | | Larry Stelivan, Gary Williams, Shelly Rouse, Marcus Rouse, |
| 11 | | Felishia Webb, Kayla Webb, and Robert Webb; his long-time |
| 12 | | friend, Eddie Withers; his siblings, James Stelivan, Ervin |
| 13 | | Stelivan, Carolyn Townsend, and Cynthia (John) Webb; 26 |
| 14 | | grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other |
| 15 | | family members, and friends; therefore, be it

| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
| 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 18 | | Larry Stelivan and extend our sincere condolences to his |
| 19 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 20 | | further

| 21 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
