SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Charles J. Roman Jr. of Moline, who 
4passed away on October 30, 2021; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Roman was born to Charles J. and Romanie 
6(DeDecker) Roman Sr. in Moline on July 29, 1929; he married 
7Joan E. Swain at Sacred Heart Church in Moline on April 25, 
81951; he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Charles Roman retired from American Air Filter in 
101985; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Charles Roman enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, 
12bingo, and playing cards; he was also an avid softball player; 
13and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Charles Roman was preceded in death by his son, 
15Rick; his sisters, Dorothy Griffin and Irene Jones; and his 
16brother, Dan Roman; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Charles Roman is survived by his wife of 70 
18years, Joan; his children, Brenda Roman (Judy Hutchinson), 
19Joseph (Ruth Ann) Roman, Diane (Joe) Vallela, Mary Sue 
20Bennett, Lisa (Ed) Cunningham, and Laura (Randy) Damewood; his

117 grandchildren; his 17 great-grandchildren; and his many 
2nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
5Charles J. Roman Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his 
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
7further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Charles Roman as an expression of 
10our deepest sympathy.
