|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Christopher Joseph "Chris" Weir of |
4 | | Maryville, who passed away on October 20, 2021; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Chris Weir was born to Brian and Cecilia "Cece" |
6 | | Weir in East St. Louis on February 7, 1964; he graduated from |
7 | | Rosary High School in St. Louis, Missouri in 1982; he served |
8 | | aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown CG-48 in the U.S. Navy; he married |
9 | | Kathy Henderson on June 18, 1993, and they created a loving and |
10 | | fun-filled home where all were welcome; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Upon being honorably discharged, Chris Weir |
12 | | returned home and was accepted as an apprentice wireman into |
13 | | IBEW Local Union 309 in Collinsville, IL, following in the |
14 | | footsteps of four generations of electricians; he retired as |
15 | | assistant business manager of Local 309 and member of the |
16 | | Apprentice Board in March 2021; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Chris Weir was an ardent advocate for workers' |
18 | | rights, and he never missed the annual Labor Day parade in |
19 | | Belleville, attended any Labor event that did not conflict |
20 | | with a family obligation, and steadfastly encouraged young |
21 | | people struggling with career choices to consider the trades; |
22 | | he was a member of The Knights of Columbus at Mother of |

1 | | Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where he enjoyed volunteering |
2 | | during Lenten fish fries and catching up with all the families |
3 | | with whom his children attended elementary school; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Chris Weir was a family man to the core and |
5 | | considered everyone family; fatherhood was his favorite job of |
6 | | all, and he was excellent at it; he was always the first to |
7 | | lend a hand and put the needs of others before himself; he was |
8 | | the master of diffusing tense situations with humor and always |
9 | | had a joke up his sleeve to make others smile; his sense of |
10 | | humor, kind heart, and natural teaching ability left a lasting |
11 | | impression upon anyone who crossed his path; he will be |
12 | | remembered for his love of music, his enthusiasm for St. Louis |
13 | | sports, his ability to light up a room, and his one-of-a-kind |
14 | | personality; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Chris Weir was preceded in death by his |
16 | | grandparents, Joe Weir Sr., Ann P. (Gallagher) Weir, and Fred |
17 | | and Rose Peskar; his father-in-law, Ken Henderson; his |
18 | | brother, Brenden Weir; his brother-in-law, Jimmy Henderson; |
19 | | and his niece, Keiley Weir; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Chris Weir is survived by his wife of 28 years, |
21 | | Kathy Henderson-Weir; his children, Lauren, Ian, and Kellen |
22 | | Weir; his parents, Brian and Cece Weir; his brothers, Brian |
23 | | Weir, Nick (Katy) Weir, Killian Weir, and Ted Weir; his |

11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
12 | | Christopher Joseph "Chris" Weir and extend our sincere |
13 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
14 | | him; and be it further

15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
16 | | presented to the family of Chris Weir as an expression of our |
17 | | deepest sympathy.
