| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of James "Jim" Curtis Lindeen, formerly | ||||||
| 4 | of Moline, who passed away on November 6, 2021; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Jim Lindeen was born to Mena and Carl Lindeen in | ||||||
| 6 | Crookston, Minnesota on January 20, 1930; he later moved to | ||||||
| 7 | North Mankato, Minnesota and attended Mankato High School; in | ||||||
| 8 | 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served in the | ||||||
| 9 | Pacific theater during the Korean War; he was a sonar man and | ||||||
| 10 | captain's phone-talker on the USS Currier, USS Rupertus, and | ||||||
| 11 | USS Trathen, serving until 1952;
after his tour of duty, he | ||||||
| 12 | enrolled at Mankato State Teacher's College and then the | ||||||
| 13 | University of Minnesota; he married Edie Mutzke in 1956, and | ||||||
| 14 | they moved to Denver, Colorado in 1960; he married Elma | ||||||
| 15 | Burdick in 1987, and they enjoyed many years in the Seattle | ||||||
| 16 | area; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Jim Lindeen was an engineer with Martin Marietta | ||||||
| 18 | in Denver and worked on many projects; some of his favorites | ||||||
| 19 | include the Titan missile transporter, the Viking Mars Lander, | ||||||
| 20 | the Skylab, and a Man Maneuvering Unit; he also worked for | ||||||
| 21 | Stems Rogers and the American Coleman Company and had many | ||||||
| 22 | moonlighting jobs, including working the Lake Eldora Ski Area | ||||||
| 23 | snow-making machine; in 1986, he moved to Seattle, Washington | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | where he was a contract worker for Boeing International at the | ||||||
| 2 | 747 facility in Everett; during that time, he developed a side | ||||||
| 3 | business engraving signs, labels and badges (SLAB), which he | ||||||
| 4 | continued until 2013; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Jim Lindeen was a loyal member of the Elks Lodge | ||||||
| 6 | in Lynnwood, Washington; he served in many roles and | ||||||
| 7 | eventually became an Exalted Ruler; he enjoyed traveling to | ||||||
| 8 | many destinations for Elks conferences; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Jim Lindeen loved designing and building home | ||||||
| 10 | projects throughout his life; wherever he lived, his handiwork | ||||||
| 11 | could be seen and enjoyed; he was very proud of his service in | ||||||
| 12 | the Navy and talked about it often; he loved his family and | ||||||
| 13 | enjoyed spending time with them; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Jim Lindeen is survived by his daughters, Cindy | ||||||
| 15 | (Ken) Martin and Sally (Dave) Meier; his grandchildren, Curtis | ||||||
| 16 | (Kimberly) Meier, Austin (Kristen Mueller) Martin, Brendan | ||||||
| 17 | (Rebecca) Meier, Lauren (Nate) Penz, and Travis Meier; his | ||||||
| 18 | great-grandchildren, Nolan Meier and Adeline Meier; and his | ||||||
| 19 | many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
| 21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
| 22 | James "Jim" Curtis Lindeen and extend our sincere
condolences | ||||||

| 1 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be | ||||||
| 2 | it further

| 3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
