2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Natalie Susan McDowell of Monticello, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on November 6, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Natalie McDowell was born in Decatur to Kathleen | ||||||
6 | (Brown) and James Mauck Sr. on February 1, 1967;
she graduated | ||||||
7 | from Sullivan High School in 1985 and attended Millikin | ||||||
8 | University, where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha | ||||||
9 | Sorority and
earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1989; | ||||||
10 | she
married Brian D. McDowell at the First United Methodist | ||||||
11 | Church in Sullivan on June 15, 1991; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Natalie McDowell was a compassionate and caring | ||||||
13 | nurse who worked with the Decatur Memorial Hospital pediatrics | ||||||
14 | department, the
Lincolnland Visiting Nurses Association, and | ||||||
15 | the Sullivan, Bement, and Monticello school
systems; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Natalie McDowell was active in Kirby Medical | ||||||
17 | Center
CrossFit and St. Jude's runs; she never missed her | ||||||
18 | sons' school activities or sports and was an avid fan of the | ||||||
19 | Illini, the Green Bay Packers, and the St. Louis Cardinals | ||||||
20 | because they were her sons' favorite
teams; she was a member of | ||||||
21 | the
Monticello United Methodist Church, where she served as | ||||||
22 | Director of Youth Ministry; she led high school and middle |
| |||||||
| |||||||
1 | school youth groups and planned and accompanied youth on | ||||||
2 | numerous
retreats and mission trips; and | ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Natalie McDowell was a devoted and loving wife | ||||||
4 | and mother; she
was a dedicated and attentive mother-in-law, | ||||||
5 | daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, aunt, and
cousin; she was | ||||||
6 | an incredibly upbeat and positive person, with a smile and a | ||||||
7 | ready laugh to greet
everyone she met; she had boundless | ||||||
8 | energy; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Natalie McDowell was preceded in death by her | ||||||
10 | parents; her father-in-law, Jerry McDowell; and her | ||||||
11 | brother-in-law, Steven Breckenridge; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Natalie McDowell is survived by her husband, | ||||||
13 | Brian; her sons, Andrew J. (Sarah)
McDowell and Austin L. | ||||||
14 | McDowell (Lily Stromberg); her brothers, Dr.
James (Patricia) | ||||||
15 | Mauck and Dr. Gregory (Kimberly) Mauck; her sister,
Cindy | ||||||
16 | (Greg) Tarr; her mother-in-law, Judy McDowell; her | ||||||
17 | sister-in-law, Kim
(Jerry Long) Breckenridge; her relatives, | ||||||
18 | Linda and Grant Hoskins and Marlyn (Joe) Harrison; 17 nieces | ||||||
19 | and nephews; nine grandnieces and
grandnephews; 11 cousins; | ||||||
20 | and numerous friends; therefore, be it

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
22 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |

2 | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
