| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Steven DeWayne Powers of rural |
| 4 | | Illinois City, who passed away on December 16, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Steven Powers was born to Dale Forrest and |
| 6 | | Charlotte (Poindexter) Powers in Muscatine, Iowa on October |
| 7 | | 14, 1948; he graduated from Columbus Community High School in |
| 8 | | 1967; he participated in many sports and clubs while in high |
| 9 | | school with his greatest accomplishment being making Eagle |
| 10 | | Scout in 1963; in the summer of 1967, he was drafted into the |
| 11 | | U.S. Marines but got lost while reporting for duty and started |
| 12 | | his service with the U.S. Army; he married

| 13 | | December 12, 1970; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Steven Powers had a 22 year career in the Army; he |
| 15 | | retired in the winter of 1989 with the rank of Master Sergeant; |
| 16 | | once retired, he was called back to serve as the family liaison |
| 17 | | for the Muscatine National Guard; in 1992, he attended |
| 18 | | Davenport Barber College and started his barber career, which |
| 19 | | lasted until his retirement in November of 2020; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Steven Powers was preceded in death by his |
| 21 | | parents, Dale and Charlotte Powers, and his sister, Cathy |
| 22 | | (Powers) Arola; and
