SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald M. "Don" Turner of Milan, who passed away on December 6, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Don Turner was born in Rock Island on December 15, 1945; he served in the U.S. Navy for four years; he married Michaeline Sue "Mickie" Meyer in Milan on November 29, 1969, and she preceded him in death on August 14, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Don Turner worked as a lineman for the Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company for many years; he finished his career as an electrician for John Deere and Company, retiring on April 1, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Don Turner was an avid golfer who made one hole in one, and he was a member of the Indian Bluff Golf Course and a former member of the Pinnacle Country Club; he was also a member of the Milan Rifle Club, the National Rifle Association (NRA), and the American Legion; and

WHEREAS, Don Turner enjoyed spending time with different groups of friends, playing golf, riding motorcycles, exercising at Rock Valley, and shooting at the Milan Rifle Club; he enjoyed vegetable gardening and taking motorcycle trips with his wife, Mickie, in earlier years; and

WHEREAS, Don Turner was preceded in death by his sister, Pam Buster; and

WHEREAS, Don Turner is survived by his mother, Bernice Halley; his niece, Katrina (David) Dixon; his nephew, Tim Buster; the members of the Meyer family; and his close friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald M. "Don" Turner and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Don Turner as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
