| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Austin Joe McEwen of Caseyville, who |
| 4 | | passed away on December 11, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Austin McEwen was born in Belleville on March 29, |
| 6 | | 1995; he graduated from Collinsville High School in 2013 where |
| 7 | | he played baseball and hockey; before playing for |
| 8 | | Collinsville, he played hockey for the O'Fallon Panthers; he |
| 9 | | also played club hockey for the Southern Illinois IceHawks and |
| 10 | | the Affton Americans; his love and passion for the game earned |
| 11 | | him a scholarship to McKendree University where he played for |
| 12 | | the Bearcats for two years; he graduated from Vatterott |
| 13 | | College; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Austin McEwen worked for Amazon as a delivery |
| 15 | | driver; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Austin McEwen was a member of the Wild Rural Park |
| 17 | | Hunting Club; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Austin McEwen loved bird hunting, especially |
| 19 | | pheasants and turkeys, going to concerts, and traveling with |
| 20 | | the love of his life, Sarah Biermann; he had a big heart and |
| 21 | | would do anything for anyone; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Austin McEwen was preceded in death by his |
| 2 | | maternal grandparents, Jack C. and Doris Merritt Sr.; his |
| 3 | | paternal grandmother, Darlene McEwen; his many aunts and |
| 4 | | uncles; and his dog, Vapor; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Austin McEwen is survived by his parents, Randall |
| 6 | | Joe and Alice (Merritt) McEwen; his love, Sarah Biermann and |
| 7 | | her two sons, Connor and Aiden; his paternal grandfather, |
| 8 | | Billy Joe McEwen; his cousins, Dylan and Dayle McEwen; his |
| 9 | | three aunts, Melody McEwen, April (Steve) Starr, and Donna |
| 10 | | (John) Lowe; his many dear cousins; his friends that were like |
| 11 | | family; and his canine companions, Myst, Bleu, and Delta; |
| 12 | | therefore, be it
|
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
| 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
|
| 15 | | Austin Joe McEwen and extend our sincere
condolences to his |
| 16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it |
