SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of George L. Beeding Jr. of Rock Island, who passed away on December 30, 2021; and

WHEREAS, George Beeding was born to George L. Beeding Sr. and Harriett L. (VanAuken) Beeding in Muscatine, Iowa on September 1, 1938; he served in the U.S. Navy, traveling to 18 different countries, and was honorably discharged in 1959; he married Lucille A. "Lucy" Heinze in Rock Island on August 21, 1960, and she preceded him in death on August 26, 2016; and

WHEREAS, George Beeding was a Snap-On Tool dealer for 10 years; he then worked as a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal for 28 years; he retired in 1996; and

WHEREAS, George Beeding was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island, the Pontiac-Oakland Club International (POCI), and the National Street Rod Association (NSRA); and

WHEREAS, George Beeding owned a 1955 Pontiac Chieftain wagon and most recently owned a 1967 Pontiac Catalina, which he loved driving and taking to car shows; he was very knowledgeable in building Pontiac engines; he enjoyed fishing and meeting his friends for coffee at McDonald's every morning; and

WHEREAS, George Beeding was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy; his parents; and his infant daughter, Cynthia Beeding; and

WHEREAS, George Beeding is survived by his daughter, Julie (Russell) Terry; his son, Jeffrey (Carol) Beeding; his grandchildren, Shaelyn Terry and Wyatt Beeding; and his sisters, Emma (Dennis) Swanson and Frances "Fran" (James) Ryan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of George L. Beeding Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Beeding as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
