| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Madeleine McAfee of Lombard, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on November 18, 2021; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee was born on September 27, 1956; | ||||||
| 6 | she earned a Master of Business Administration from the | ||||||
| 7 | University of Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee worked as an engineer and | ||||||
| 9 | marketing manager at Motorola for mission-critical | ||||||
| 10 | communications infrastructure products; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee volunteered with multiple | ||||||
| 12 | organizations, including coaching Lombard Park District soccer | ||||||
| 13 | and basketball from 1995 to 1998, serving as a den mother for | ||||||
| 14 | the Cub Scouts from 1995 to 1999, serving with the People's | ||||||
| 15 | Resource Center from 2005 to 2021, and assisting the | ||||||
| 16 | Chicagoland Lab Rescue from 2015 to 2021, through which she | ||||||
| 17 | fostered more than 60 dogs; after Hurricane Katrina, she | ||||||
| 18 | traveled with the Willow Creek Church to Mississippi in August | ||||||
| 19 | 2006 to assist with food banks, painting houses, debris | ||||||
| 20 | removal, repairs, the construction of damaged homes, cooking, | ||||||
| 21 | and serving other volunteers; she was involved with Girls on | ||||||
| 22 | the Run (GOTR) from March to May 2016; she participated in five | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Chicago Breast Cancer 3-day 60 mile walks, through which she | ||||||
| 2 | raised more than $12,000 for the fight against breast cancer, | ||||||
| 3 | and ran five times in the Foodie 5k to benefit the Northern | ||||||
| 4 | Illinois Food Bank; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee was a member of the Grant | ||||||
| 6 | Writers Networking Group; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee was recognized as the Non-profit | ||||||
| 8 | Volunteer of the Year by the Western Suburbs Philanthropic | ||||||
| 9 | Network in 2020; she was also inducted into the Carleton | ||||||
| 10 | College Athletic Hall of Fame; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee loved the outdoors, sports, and | ||||||
| 12 | her grandchildren; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Madeleine McAfee is survived by her husband, | ||||||
| 14 | Clark Adams; her children, Howell, Erik, and Andrew Adams; and | ||||||
| 15 | her grandchildren, Cali, Jacob, Levi, Alexa, Isaac, Owen, and | ||||||
| 16 | Ethan; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
| 18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
| 19 | Madeleine McAfee and extend our sincere
condolences to her | ||||||
| 20 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
her; and be it | ||||||
| 21 | further
