| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Joan F. Evers of Edwardsville, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on January 19, 2022; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Joan Evers was born to Edward and Cleo (Kinder) | ||||||
| 6 | Foehrkalb in Granite City on August 11, 1936; she graduated | ||||||
| 7 | from the University of Southern California; she married | ||||||
| 8 | Kenneth L. Evers in Edwardsville on May 29, 1971, and he | ||||||
| 9 | preceded her in death on September 26, 1996; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Joan Evers worked in her parents' stores, | ||||||
| 11 | Foehrkalb Printers and Foehrkalb's Gift Shop, in downtown | ||||||
| 12 | Edwardsville after her college graduation; she then worked at | ||||||
| 13 | Florists' Mutual for 40 years, retiring as a vice-president of | ||||||
| 14 | Outside Sales; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Joan Evers became very active with the Friends of | ||||||
| 16 | the Wildey organization and the renovation of the Wildey | ||||||
| 17 | Theater in Edwardsville; she enjoyed being the historian of | ||||||
| 18 | the Wildey Theater, giving tours, speaking to several | ||||||
| 19 | organizations, and volunteering many hours at the theater; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Joan Evers was also active in supporting the | ||||||
| 21 | Madison County Historical Society Museum and the Friends of | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Lovejoy Library; she spent over 40 years of her life as a | ||||||
| 2 | church organist on Sundays; she also played for the | ||||||
| 3 | Edwardsville Rotary Club each week, where she was a member; | ||||||
| 4 | and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Joan Evers was known for her kind heart and | ||||||
| 6 | willingness to always help others; she will be remembered for | ||||||
| 7 | being a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; | ||||||
| 8 | and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Joan Evers was preceded in death by her husband | ||||||
| 10 | and parents; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Joan Evers is survived by her sons, Scott (Janna) | ||||||
| 12 | Evers and Kenny (Cheri) Evers; her grandchildren, Matt (Kara) | ||||||
| 13 | Evers, Kevin Evers, and Emily (Josh) Whitt; and her | ||||||
| 14 | great-grandchildren, Kenlee Evers, Connor Evers, Dreamer | ||||||
| 15 | Whitt, and Journey Whitt; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 18 | Joan F. Evers and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
| 19 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 20 | further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||

| 1 | presented to the family of Joan Evers as an expression of our | ||||||
| 2 | deepest sympathy.
