|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Deidre Nicole Silas of Springfield, |
4 | | who passed away on January 4, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Deidre Silas was born to Roy and Barie Graham in |
6 | | Kingston, Jamaica on July 30, 1985; she moved to the United |
7 | | States in December 1995; during high school, she made the |
8 | | National Honor Roll for many years; she also served as a Scope |
9 | | mentor and participated in the Boys and Girls Club, the |
10 | | Fashionetta cotillion, and the UBC Youth Ministry; she was the |
11 | | president of the Caribbean Student Association in 2007; she |
12 | | received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 2008; |
13 | | she married Andre Silas in 2017; she earned her Master of |
14 | | Public Administration in 2019, her certification in Project |
15 | | Management in 2020, and certification in Human Resource |
16 | | Management in 2020; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Deidre Silas committed to her faith at an early |
18 | | age; her church home was Union Baptist Church; she enjoyed |
19 | | reading, playing with her kids, playing mom to her younger |
20 | | cousins, cooking, and spending time with her family and |
21 | | friends; and
|
22 | | WHEREAS, Deidre Silas was affectionately known as "Nadia" |

1 | | and was the heartbeat of her household; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Deidre Silas was preceded in death by her |
3 | | grandparents, Gersham and Gertrude; her aunt, Carole, and her |
4 | | grandmother, Beryl; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Deidre Silas is survived by her husband, Andre |
6 | | Silas; her children, Ashton Silas and Amelia Silas; her |
7 | | parents; her brother, Mario Graham; her honorary sister and |
8 | | cousin, Monique Coombs; her grandfather, Clifford; her aunts, |
9 | | Monica, Avis, Andrea, Annmarie, Shawnie, Movia, Sylvia, |
10 | | Sharon, Kerryann, and Carol; her uncles, Carl, Lenny, Winston, |
11 | | Errol, Donovan, Wayne, Junior, and Shawn; and her many |
12 | | cousins; therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Deidre Nicole Silas and extend our sincere condolences to her |
16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
17 | | further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Deidre Silas as an expression of our |
20 | | deepest sympathy.
