COVID-19, was first detected in |
4 | | Illinois in January of 2020, and the first COVID-19 related |
5 | | death in Illinois occurred on March 16, 2020; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS The first COVID-19 related death in Illinois |
7 | | occurred on March 16, 2020, and Governor Pritzker issued a |
8 | | stay at home order on March 20, 2020 and extended that order on |
9 | | April 1, 2020, signaling that the COVID-19 pandemic would |
10 | | endure for the foreseeable future; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Public Health has |
12 | | reported nearly 2.8 million cases across all counties and |
13 | | almost 30,000 COVID-related deaths; more Illinoisans have died |
14 | | of COVID-19 than died serving in World War I, World War II, and |
15 | | the war in Vietnam combined; and

16 | | WHEREAS, Thousands of those who have survived COVID-19 are |
17 | | still struggling with myriad symptoms of Long COVID-19; this |
18 | | range of symptoms can last weeks or months after someone is |
19 | | first infected or can appear weeks after infection; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, COVID-19 has had costly and disruptive impacts on |
