2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Michael C. Langendorf, who passed away |
4 | | on February 8, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Michael Langendorf was born in Chicago on |
6 | | November 3, 1953 and lived in Northbrook; he received his |
7 | | Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Social Work at |
8 | | the University of Illinois; he was married to the love of his |
9 | | life, Sheri (Didech) Langendorf, for 45 years; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Michael Langendorf was a proud school social |
11 | | worker/psychiatric social worker; he worked for the Department |
12 | | of Children and Family Services and the Oak Therapeutic School |
13 | | in Chicago; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Upon moving to central Illinois, Michael |
15 | | Langendorf worked at the Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana, |
16 | | St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Private Mental Health |
17 | | Associates in Danville, the Ford-Iroquois Special Education |
18 | | Cooperative, the Vermilion Association for Special Education, |
19 | | and the University of Illinois Laboratory High School; he also |
20 | | served as an adjunct instructor for the University of Illinois |
21 | | School of Social Work and an Administrative Law Judge/Due |
22 | | Process Hearing Officer for the Illinois Department of |

1 | | Education; and |
2 | | WHEREAS, Michael Langendorf served on several committees |
3 | | and boards; he was the Legislative Chair for the Illinois |
4 | | Association of School Social Workers for over 20 years; he was |
5 | | passionate about passing laws and providing services for |
6 | | students and was a champion for the field of school social |
7 | | work; he served on the Governor's Early Childhood Mental |
8 | | Health Committee, the Star/Net Mini-Grant review Committee, |
9 | | the Novice Teacher Support Project Steering Committee, the U |
10 | | of I School of Social Work Advisory Committee, the U of I |
11 | | Council on Teacher Education Committee, the VASE Autism Team, |
12 | | the Vermilion County Emergency/Crisis Intervention Team, and |
13 | | the Vermilion County Early Intervention Council; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Michael Langendorf advocated for students by |
15 | | voluntarily attending school conferences and staffings, by |
16 | | mediating for children to ensure they received appropriate |
17 | | services, and by supporting and coaching parents for hours on |
18 | | the telephone as they advocated for their children; he also |
19 | | served as the chair of the Champaign-Urbana Jewish |
20 | | Federation's Human Services Committee; and |
21 | | WHEREAS, Michael Langendorf was a fabulous chef and took |
22 | | pride in the meals he served to his friends and family; no |
23 | | cooking task was too small or too great, whether he was cooking |

1 | | hot dogs for a soccer team or cooking a Thanksgiving dinner for |
2 | | 100s at school; he had a special talent for making everyone he |
3 | | met feel important and special, and he always opened his heart |
4 | | and his home to anyone in need; he loved keeping in touch with |
5 | | everyone and would call, text, and Facebook message at all |
6 | | hours of the day, always expressing how much the people in his |
7 | | life meant to him; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Michael Langendorf was the loving and doting |
9 | | father of Emily (Daniel) Mysel and the incredible "Zee" to Max |
10 | | and Eli Mysel; he was the devoted son of the late Estelle |
11 | | (Jacobson) and the late Sheldon Langendorf and the loving |
12 | | son-in-law of Beverly and the late Marvin Didech; he was the |
13 | | dearest big brother to Robert Langendorf and brother-in-law to |
14 | | Dean (Marleen) Didech and Gregg Didech; he was the fond uncle |
15 | | of Amy (Bobby) White, Kevin (Mimi) Langendorf, and Kate (Chris |
16 | | Barnett), Daniel (Jen), Adam (Lauren), Scott (Deanna), |
17 | | Madeleine, and Makenna Didech and the great uncle to Jackson |
18 | | White, Parker Barnett, and Theo Didech; he was the chosen |
19 | | brother of David Jacobson, best friend to Glenn Weiss for the |
20 | | last 66 years, and dedicated and caring friend to so many; |
21 | | therefore, be it

22 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
23 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
24 | | Michael C. Langendorf and extend our sincere condolences to |
