| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Elaine "Goodie" Knobel; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Elaine Knobel was born in Newark, New Jersey to |
| 5 | | Mildred (Kushner) Goodman and Stanley Stickler on July 1, |
| 6 | | 1944; her father was killed during WW II, and she was later |
| 7 | | adopted by Mildred's second husband of 24 years, Mickey |
| 8 | | Goodman; she was raised in West Orange, New Jersey and |
| 9 | | graduated from Mountain High School; she earned a teaching |
| 10 | | degree from the National College of Education in Evanston; she |
| 11 | | married Peter S. Knobel in 1966; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Elaine Knobel taught elementary school; she was |
| 13 | | also proud to serve as a Rebbetzin at Temple Emmanuel in New |
| 14 | | London, Connecticut and later at Beth Emet The Free Synagogue |
| 15 | | in Evanston; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Elaine Knobel was a travel agent extraordinaire; |
| 17 | | in retirement, she found great fulfillment as a doting |
| 18 | | grandma; she and her husband traveled the world, enjoyed art, |
| 19 | | indulged in fine dining, hosted dinner parties, enjoyed |
| 20 | | listening to symphonies, and cheered on teams at the |
| 21 | | occasional sporting event; and
