2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Jess Meado of South Jacksonville, who |
4 | | passed away on January 31, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jess Meado was born in Meredosia to Lester and |
6 | | Viola Ball Meado on July 11, 1933; he married Donna Kehl at the |
7 | | Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville on December 31, 1953; |
8 | | and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Jess Meado was a plumber in the Jacksonville area |
10 | | for many years; he was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters |
11 | | Local 137 and served his apprenticeship with Tom Crabtree; he |
12 | | worked for Doyle Plumbing and Heating for many years and |
13 | | finished his career with the Jacksonville Correctional Center; |
14 | | and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Jess Meado served in the United States Marine |
16 | | Corps during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star, |
17 | | Silver Star, Purple Heart, and South Korean Gold Star; he was |
18 | | honored in several publications, including The Final Crucible: |
19 | | US Marines in Korea by Lee Ballenger; he welcomed home many |
20 | | Honor Flight participants as they returned to Abraham Lincoln |
21 | | Capital Airport following their trips to Washington D.C.; he |
22 | | was proud to have been presented a Quilt of Valor; he was |

1 | | active in the West Central Illinois Leathernecks and countless |
2 | | Toys for Tots campaigns; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Jess Meado was a member of the Our Saviour |
4 | | Parish; he coached Little League Baseball for years and was a |
5 | | founding member of the Jacksonville Area Youth Football |
6 | | League; he enjoyed camping, canoeing, and traveling with his |
7 | | wife; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Jess Meado was preceded in death by his brothers, |
9 | | Lester, Robert, and Clarence Meado; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Jess Meado is survived by his wife, Donna; his |
11 | | children, Vicki (Michael) Vaughn, Terry Shafer, Rick (Patty) |
12 | | Meado, and Patti Meado (Dick Barnes); his grandchildren, Tyler |
13 | | (Joanna) Vaughn, Karissa Vaughn, Jamie (Scott) Schieber, |
14 | | Jessica Shafer, Brent Meado, Brian (Tara) Meado, and Christina |
15 | | Meado (Ross Graves); seven great-grandchildren; and several |
16 | | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
19 | | Jess Meado and extend our sincere condolences to his family, |
20 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
