| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Roger Sobottka of East Moline, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on March 2, 2022; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Roger Sobottka was born to Henry Freida (Kempf) | ||||||
| 6 | Sobottka in Plum City, Wisconsin on March 1, 1934; he served | ||||||
| 7 | with the U.S. Army for three years; he married Yvonne Richards | ||||||
| 8 | Noll in Davenport, Iowa on May 22, 1982; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Roger Sobottka worked as a machinist for | ||||||
| 10 | International Harvester for 32 years, retiring in 1992; he was | ||||||
| 11 | later employed as a bus driver for United Township High School | ||||||
| 12 | from 1993 until 2003; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Roger Sobottka was a member of Faith Lutheran | ||||||
| 14 | Church and the Elks Lodge; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Roger Sobottka enjoyed playing golf, traveling, | ||||||
| 16 | and woodworking and liked tending to his yard and his motor | ||||||
| 17 | home, snowbirding in Texas, and snowmobiling in Wisconsin; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Roger Sobottka was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 19 | brothers, David (Val) Sobottka, Stanley Sobottka, and Dale | ||||||
| 20 | (Joyce) Sobottka, and his sisters, Carol (Burt) Huneke, | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Shirley Dodds, and Ellen (Gene) Kirchner; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Roger Sobottka is survived by his wife, Yvonne; | ||||||
| 3 | his children, Joy (Duane) Hill, JoAnne (Danny) Brunat, and | ||||||
| 4 | Julie (Mark) Larvenz; his stepson, Pete Noll III; his | ||||||
| 5 | grandchildren, Matt Miner, Michelle (Darrick) Calhoun, Deidra | ||||||
| 6 | (Mark) Landergren, Katie Hill, Keith Hill, and Cameron | ||||||
| 7 | VerBeke; his step-grandchildren, Pete Noll IV, Zachary Noll, | ||||||
| 8 | and Patrick Noll; his great-grandchildren, Aiden Hill and | ||||||
| 9 | Jameson Stokes; his sisters, Joyce Hawke and Janie Terpstra; | ||||||
| 10 | and his brother, Tom (Jane) Wider; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
| 12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 13 | Roger Sobottka and extend our sincere
condolences to his | ||||||
| 14 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
