| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Matthew "Matt" William Mau of Chatham, |
| 4 | | who passed away on March 2, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Matt Mau was born to Marty (Lisa) Mau and Maureen |
| 6 | | Frier Mau in Springfield on August 25, 1983; he attended |
| 7 | | Glenwood High School in Chatham, Lincoln Land Community |
| 8 | | College, and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, |
| 9 | | where he earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science; |
| 10 | | and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Matt Mau was employed at Prairie State Gaming; he |
| 12 | | formerly worked in the Sangamon County Clerk's Office and for |
| 13 | | former Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Matt Mau was a member of St. John's Lutheran |
| 15 | | Church in Chatham; he was an active member of the Sons of the |
| 16 | | American Legion, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Masons; he was a |
| 17 | | past member of TRN and Model Illinois Government and served as |
| 18 | | a student board member at Lincoln Land Community College; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Matt Mau was a Trustee of the Village of Chatham |
| 20 | | for 11 years; he also played an active role in political |
| 21 | | campaigns, including serving as the Illinois field director |
|

| 1 | | for President Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and as |
| 2 | | a Trump delegate to the Republican National Convention; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Matt Mau showed a love for his faith, family, and |
| 4 | | country at an early age; he had a great passion for playing |
| 5 | | poker and for good bourbon; his life was filled with love and |
| 6 | | laughter, and he will be especially remembered for his |
| 7 | | generous spirit and pleasant personality; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Matt Mau was preceded in death by his |
| 9 | | grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Mau, Frank DeMunbrun, and |
| 10 | | William and Gertrude Frier, and his nephew, Grady Scott; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Matt Mau is survived by his father, Martin (Lisa) |
| 12 | | Mau; his mother, Maureen Mau; his sisters, Tiffany Thursby, |
| 13 | | Tonya Gibbs, and Meghan Mau; his grandmother, Judy DeMunbrun; |
| 14 | | his nephew, Griffin Gibbs; his niece, Graylyn Gibbs; his aunts |
| 15 | | and uncles; his cousins; and his extended family and friends; |
| 16 | | therefore, be it
